Nominate a Wyoming Nurse TODAY!
Wyoming Nurses Association SEEKS OUTSTANDING WYOMING NURSES! Please take the opportunity to nominate a colleague or mentor. This year we are looking for a nursing pioneer, please see the criteria below for this special award you need not be a member of WNA to nominate a colleague, we need all Wyoming nurses to pause and nominate a colleague. In order for us to do this, we need all Wyoming nurses to take the time to nominate a colleague. There are many deserving nursing in Wyoming and it is important to celebrate and recognize their accomplishments.
Award nomination forms are due to the WNA office by August 1, 2011. Complete an “Award Nomination Form” and send it into the WNA office.
CRITERIA FOR WYOMING NURSES ASSOCIATION RECOGNITION AWARDS:
Excellence in Clinical Nursing Practice Award– Attributes should include:
- Develops and delivers innovative and applicable approaches to enhance direct patient care in the clinical arena of nursing.
- Practices at least 20% of work in a direct patient care setting.
- Exemplifies behaviors reflecting the caring attitudes of nursing.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the skills and techniques required by his/her clinical area.
- Devotes time and energy towards delivering quality patient care within the clinical arena.
- Serves as a role model for other nurses within the clinical arena.
- Impacts the quality of patient care delivery and/or the response of patients to care they receive.
- Licensed as a RN in Wyoming: (WNA Membership is NOT required.)
Community Service/Health Promotion Award – Attributes should include:
- Active in development/delivery of community/patient education.
- Provides service to health care consumers.
- Develops and/or delivers health promotion, health prevention or risk reduction program to the community.
- Demonstrates an impact on community or target populations.
- Active in recognized volunteer health organizations (March of Dimes, AHA, etc.)
- Demonstrates innovative approaches toward community health programs.
- Facilitates collaborative efforts with other health team members.
- Contributes to the promotion of wellness within a community.
- Licensed as an RN in Wyoming: (WNA Membership is NOT required.)
Outstanding Service to WNA Award – Attributes should include:
- Holds a current WNA membership.
- Participates at district, state or national level by serving on committees or as an officer.
- Demonstrates involvement in promotion/recruitment efforts for WNA.
- Enhances the image of WNA.
- Exemplifies professionalism in nursing.
- Demonstrates a commitment of time, energy and dedication to WNA’s Purpose.
- Recognizes the rurality of Wyoming and addresses specific needs of the organization statewide.
- Licensed as an RN in Wyoming.
Leadership in Nursing Award – Attributes should include:
- Participates in professional nursing organizations.
- Contributes to the advancement of nursing.
- Demonstrates creativity/management skills.
- Serves as an articulate spokesperson for promotion of nursing.
- Performs as a change agent or develops innovative approaches to further nursing practice.
- Encourages recruitment/retention of qualified nurses into the nursing profession.
- Demonstrates ongoing commitment to the lifelong nature of nursing education through continuing education, publications, research, presentations, or advanced education.
- Collaborates with the legislative/political processes related to nursing.
- Commits time, effort, and energy toward the profession of nursing.
- Licensed as a RN in Wyoming.
- Holds current WNA Membership.
District Nurse of the Year Award– Attributes should include:
Was developed to recognize a nurse in each WNA district who has contributed to the district and profession in a significant way. There are 11 WNA districts and WNA wants to recognize one member from each of the 11 Districts.
- Participates in district activities and supports their district.
- Licensed as a RN in Wyoming.
- Holds a current WNA Membership.
