The 2017 General Session ended Friday, March 3, 2017. During this last week, bills were heard for their third and final time. Some made it through to the end, some were amended and sent to a conference committee, and some failed to make it through the process.
The two bills that WNA was supporting – The Death Certificate and Changes to the NPA passed with little opposition. The Palliative Care bill also passed on the last day of the session. The committees also met this past week to discuss items they may want to study during the interim. These meetings were open to the public, and after a review of items the committee felt were important, they went around the room and ask those in attendance if they had anything for consideration.
This list is compiled from the group, then consolidated by the House Chair and Senate Chair and then submitted to Management Council.
Management Council reviews the list and then chooses and prioritizes the topics for the committee. The first LHSS interim meeting is scheduled for April 27-28. The location has not been determined yet, nor have the topics of priorities been announced.
The 2018 Session will convene on February 12, 2018. This is the 20 day budget session with the main focus being the state budget.
